Internships with an agreement: how it works for students
Learn with up-to-date content, put it into practice in a company and give your CV a boost. You enrol in one of our 46 online courses (€200, 180 days of access) and HTL Online Business School signs the internship agreement with the company you find. You can enrol with your company already chosen or without one, and add it later from your student panel. You find the internship place yourself: the school does not assign internships.
What you get
- Up-to-date knowledge. Around ten units with their own material and a test per unit; we review and update the content regularly to keep up with what is new in each field.
- Experience in a company, applying what you learn while you learn it: the internship usually runs alongside the theory.
- A stronger CV. A certificate verifiable by QR code and an internship with an agreement put you in a better position on the job market.
- Support. Your course tutor writes when you start, reports your progress every two weeks and answers your questions; at the end you do a project tailored to your internship.
How it works, step by step
- Choose the course closest to the tasks you will do in the company, in English, Spanish or French.
- Enrol online with your internship company, or answer "Not yet" when asked if you have one.
- You and the company sign the agreement and annex electronically, usually within 1 working day once the company is added.
- Do the course and the internship, in parallel or theory first, within the course's 180 days.
- Finish: the company evaluates your internship, you submit the final project and receive the course certificate, verifiable by QR code.
Common questions from students
What if I don't have a company yet?
It depends on your situation; there are two ways:
- If you already know which field you're looking in (for example, human resources), enrol in that course now without a company. During the course's 180 days, when you find one, you add it from your student panel and we send you the agreement to sign. Choose a course that matches the internship tasks: an HR course for an internship in an HR department.
- If you don't know yet which department you'll end up in or want to study for longer, the subscription (€50/month) gives you access to all courses; when you have a company, you add the internship module (€150) with the course that fits. It gives you more flexibility on money, time and choice of course.
Being enrolled also helps in interviews: if the company asks you to be a student, you can show that you study at HTL and that the agreement can be signed at any time. Many companies value this, because you arrive with part of the theory done.
How do I show the company that I'm an HTL student?
Download your enrolment certificate from your student panel. If the company needs it, we can also confirm it by phone.
Is a single course or the subscription better for me?
A course costs €200 once and includes the internship agreement: it's the simplest option if you already know which field you're looking in. The subscription costs €50/month and the internship module €150: in the first month you pay the same as a course, and after that €50/month for as long as you keep it. It suits you if you don't know yet which course you'll need or want to take several.
What is guaranteed and what isn't?
Guaranteed: access to the course for 180 days and the certificate when you complete it; signing the agreement with the company you find; follow-up of the internship and the school's contact with you and with the company.
Not guaranteed: the internship place, which you find yourself; that a particular company agrees to sign; that the agreement is valid outside Spain, because that is the company's decision.
We strongly recommend that the internship tasks match your course and that you study and finish the course to obtain the evaluation certificate. The school recommends; the decision, and its risk, belong to the company and to you.
What if I find the company near the end of the course?
You can start the internship with whatever time the course has left: there is no minimum. To continue, you enrol in the next course: the same one in another language (the content is different) or another one compatible with the internship tasks.
Internship agreement or training contract?
The internship agreement is part of the training programme, which is why the school takes part. For internships in Spain, the student is registered with Social Security (Seguridad Social) under the trainee contribution code for paid internships without reductions. A training contract (contrato formativo) is already an employment relationship between the company and the person: the school does not take part and it is outside our scope, so for details ask the company or its payroll adviser.
Do I need to be a university student or have a degree?
No. We don't ask for a degree or a secondary-school diploma: enrolment at HTL is enough for the agreement. It also works if you already have a bachelor's or master's degree and need an agreement for an internship. If a company specifically requires a university agreement, that's its decision.
Is there an age limit?
Students are usually over 18, but from 16 you can also do an internship in Spain. The school doesn't ask for anything extra; parental consent is needed to obtain the Social Security number, and the company may ask for an additional document before signing. There is no upper age limit.
Can I do it if I'm not Spanish?
Yes, enrolment is open to any nationality. To do an internship in Spain you need an NIE (foreigner identity number) and a Social Security number. If you're an EU citizen without an NIE yet, it can help to enrol first without a company and get your NIE and Social Security number in the meantime.
If you're in Spain on a visa, every case is different: write to us before enrolling at practicas@htlescueladeempresaonline.com and we'll tell you whether we can help.
What language are the courses in?
English, Spanish and French. Language is not a requirement: you choose the one that best fits your company, your country or your market.
