Internship agreement

With this course, an intern could support an in-house legal department or a contracts team by preparing contract drafts from approved clauses, maintaining a contract repository and renewal calendar, or logging access requests and data processing records. Other suitable tasks include drafting replies to consumer withdrawal queries, assisting with KYC file reviews or compiling material for company board packs.

The internship can run at the same time as the course, within the 180 days of access.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Legal Management course qualify me to give legal advice as a lawyer?

No. The Legal Management course prepares you for in-house legal-support roles such as paralegal, legal executive or contract manager. These titles are not protected. Giving independent legal advice under your own name, or representing someone in formal proceedings, is reserved for regulated lawyers holding a protected title, such as a solicitor, barrister, advocaat or avocat. The course teaches you where that line falls so that you can work safely within it.

What could I actually do during the internship, and who finds the company?

You find the host company yourself. The school then issues the internship agreement and its annex, which the company signs electronically, usually within one to two working days. Suitable placements include an in-house legal department or a contracts team. Tasks could include maintaining a contract repository and renewal calendar, preparing drafts from a clause library, logging GDPR access requests or helping with KYC and compliance files.

Which laws and EU instruments does the course cover?

The course covers the GDPR, including ROPA, access requests, 72-hour breach notification and international transfers. It also covers Rome I and Directives 2019/771, 2019/770, 2005/29/EC and 93/13/EEC. Further topics are the EU trademark and design system via EUIPO, European and Unitary Patents via the EPO and the UPC, and the AI Act, DSA, DMA, Data Act, NIS2 and DORA. The final module deals with whistleblowing, AML/KYC, sanctions and entity management in Ireland and Luxembourg.

Do I need to learn a specific contract-management software to work in this field?

Not necessarily. A common belief is that contract lifecycle management (CLM) means buying and mastering one particular product. The course presents CLM as a set of capabilities: searchability, deadline alerts and version control. Different tools can provide these, and at small scale a well-run central repository can do the same. What matters most is tracking each contract's real action deadline, which is the end date minus the notice period.
